Empower Your Life with Solar Power!
The sun is the source of all the energy we see and use every single day. Seemingly infinite in scope, the sun is a decaying star. But the rate of decay is over such a long time to be inconsequential for us in our day to day affairs.
Technology now allows us to directly capture and utilize the sun's energy at the point of use in a more efficient and non-polluting fashion.
Although I'm a relative late comer to the game, I became very interested in solar power beginning in about 2003. A solar photovoltaic (PV) system to generate some electricity was installed in 2004 and a solar thermal system using the sun's energy to heat water is being installed in 2009.
A do-it-yourselfer by nature and a detail freak that has to understand how things work, I've researched and investigated many design details down to the seemingly insignificant levels at time. I'd like to share what I've learned and learn from others who are excited about this technology and eager to implement it for themselves.
I will detail my trials and tribulations in such a manner that I hope will educate and entertain at the same time. Please feel free to look around. I will be updating this site as I have time to both go back and describe how I put my PV system together as well as how I'm engineering and installing the solar thermal system. I welcome your participation and feedback in this process which I truly feel is a journey. Enjoy the ride!
